what is therapy with rachel actually like?
I deeply believe therapy should feel like a space where you are not only understood, but safe enough to actually begin healing.
So often, we’re given coping tools or more breathing exercises that never quite get to the root of the “stuckness” that we experience. With me, we go beyond the patterns, coping, and symptoms to get to the reason why you still feel stuck to work towards growth that feels genuinely liberating.
I want to genuinely get to know you — your story, your relationships, your family dynamics, your culture, your identities, and the experiences that shaped you. We’ll explore how your lived experiences show up in your current relationships, nervous system, self-worth, or ways of coping.
I also don’t believe people exist in isolation from the environments and systems around them, so our work always honors the larger contexts that shape your life. It is also incredibly important to me that you feel safe enough in the therapeutic space with me, so I prioritize your relational safety on a micro and macro level. I stand with you against oppressive systems (seriously, what is happening in this world??) as well as ensuring I am showing up with curiosity, acceptance, and at times, a little humor! Therapy can hold the spectrum of depth and lightness in the human experience.
Therapy with me is described by others to feel warmly authentic and collaborative in a way where I truly “get you” so it feels safe to delve into the roots. I firmly believe you already hold wisdom about your own life, so we work towards reconnecting with yourself in ways that feel safe, transformative, and sustainable.
Healing is not about becoming someone entirely different — it’s about understanding yourself with more compassion, building internal trust, and softening the shame or survival patterns that have kept you stuck.
